From 30 June to 3 July 2025, the University of Leeds will host the congress The Changing Faces of Translation and Interpreting Studies.
As the title suggests, the conference will focus on recent transformations in the field of translation studies over the past decade. These include the development of new tools, platforms, and methodologies, as well as shifts in how the profession and practice of translation are conceptualised. The discipline of translation studies has also increasingly diverged from the day-to-day realities of professional translation. Therefore, the event aims to serve as a forum for dialogue and collaboration between scholars from diverse fields and stakeholders across the industry.
Our colleague Ondřej Vimr will be presenting a paper titled Are there any soft-power goals? Data-driven analysis of the Czech institutional support of translation in 1998–2019, as part of the panel The Changing Landscape of Literary Translation and/as Soft Power.
