Retrospective Bibliography Section

Periodicals published in the Czech Lands from the period of the National Revival up to 1945 are excerpted in the Retrospective Bibliography of Czech Literary Science card catalogue. Excerpted material covers all literature and related disciplines, primarily fiction (including translations), as well as texts on works of Czech and world literature and their adaptations in other media (theatre, film, music, etc.), literary studies and articles, news, summaries and debates, journalistic texts, political statements, and manifestos. The card catalogue currently occupies approx. 700 drawers and 1.75 million clippings referring to approx. 530 periodical titles of newspapers and magazines from the years 1775–1945. In 2009–2011, the card catalogue was digitized, and scanned card files are now available through the web portal http://retrobi.ucl.cas.cz.

Starting in 2023, the Retrospective Bibliography section also manages the project ALKARO – Almanacs, Calendars, and Yearbooks in the Czech Lands 1801–1945 –, which is financed by the NAKI III programme of the Czech Ministry of Culture. The main task of the bibliography team is to prepare an analytical bibliography of selected calendars, yearbooks, and almanacs published in the Czech Lands during the specified period.
