20 000+ samizdat entries

The number of entries in the database of Czech literary samizdat recently surpassed the 20,000 mark.

From the latest samizdat excerpts, we recommend to your attention the Plumloviana collections dedicated to the peculiar personality of the poet Václav Svoboda Plumlovský – the inventor of the so-called lamezon, a building combining a church and a pub under one roof. A butcher by civilian profession and an inmate of the Kromeriz mental institution, he inspired, among other things, the members of the Križovnice school of pure humour without jokes, for example by speaking in verse in ordinary communication.
