20,000 exile entries

The beginning of the year is always fruitful in the CLB, at least in terms of the number of records. We usually try to finish most of the other activities before Christmas, so that we can enjoy the holidays in peace and enter the new year with a clean slate, and so January and February are the months when we can devote ourselves mainly to excerpting or partial cleaning of the database, before the usual “literary hustle and bustle” begins to awaken from its winter slumber in the spring, and with it various new projects, challenges, tasks and events.

The team of exile exceptors have also put considerable effort into the creation of the January and February entries. We last reported on the progress of the exile team last March, when the project celebrated its first year of operation. Since then, the exceptors have processed some 6,000 new entries, and as of yesterday they have reached the nice round number of 20,000 entries in the entire database that is the result of this new and older exile project.

And which periodicals were among the most published in the past year? The record holder was Nový život (London-Rome) with over 1,400 entries. They were followed by a greater distance by Sklizeň (Hamburg), Svědectví (New-York-Paris), the Sunday and “normal” New Yorské listy (New York-Perth Amboy), Hlas domova (Melbourne) and Západ (Ottawa).

As usual, we remind you that all periodicals can be viewed free of charge from the comfort of your home thanks to the scriptum.cz website, which is also our invaluable excerpting tool.
