New member of the Consortium

In 2025, the Consortium enters its 10th year of operation – and what better way to kick off the anniversary year than by welcoming a new member to its ranks! We are very pleased to announce that it is the Faculty of Slavic Studies of the Sofia University of St. Clement of Ohrid. Slavonic Studies has been taught at Sofia University for over 130 years (it was founded in 1888), and Czech Studies itself from the academic year 1954/1955 until today. All those interested in the current developments in Slavic and Bohemian studies at our new partner institution are highly recommended to visit its social media profile: Факултет по славянски филология. And we look forward to a new intensive cooperation.

In addition to Sofia, Czech Studies in Bulgaria is also taught at Plovdiv University of Paisiy Chilendarski and at the South-Western University of Neofit Rilski in Blagoevgrad. In the Bulgarian context, the activities of the Bohemia Society, which publishes, among others, the journal Homo bohemicus (available in the databases of the CLB), are not to be omitted. More about its history can be found in Margarita Mladenova’s article (available online).
