Hacking that does no harm: Charlotte Panušková on DHH2024

The Digital Humanities Hackathon 2024 will take place in Helsinki between 15–24 May. Our colleague from the Global and Digital Literary Studies Lab, Charlotte Panušková, has signed up for the event on behalf of the Czech Literary Bibliography.

A hackathon is a type of event in which groups of programmers work intensively on assigned software projects, in this case also related to research in humanities. Four such sub-projects were announced in DHH2024.

Charlotte Panušková is part of a team that is working on the “Cultures of online discourse” project, which uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse large samples of discussions from various online forums on Reddit to identify the content and structural features that characterise quality, “civilised” discussions. In addition, they also examine the mechanisms that Redditors use to “dissolve” potential conflicts in forums.

The outputs of all working groups will be presented during the final day of the hackathon on Friday 24 May at 12:30. The presentations can be watched online.
